"High Desert" is a dark comedy series that premiered on Apple TV+ in May 2023. The show stars Patricia Arquette as Peggy Newman, a woman with a checkered past who, following the death of her beloved mother, decides to reinvent herself as a private investigator in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California. The series also features Brad Garrett as Bruce Harvey, Weruche Opia as Carol, Bernadette Peters as Rosalyn, and Rupert Friend as Guru Bob. Created by Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford, and Jennifer Hoppe-House, and directed by Jay Roach, "High Desert" blends humor with mystery as Peggy navigates her new career and the eccentricities of her town. Despite its unique premise and strong performances, the series was canceled after one season.
