Directed by Fede Álvarez and produced by Ridley Scott, "Alien: Romulus" is the seventh installment in the iconic Alien franchise. Set approximately 20 years after the original "Alien" and 37 years before "Aliens," the film follows Rain Carradine and her adoptive android brother, Andy, as they and other young colonists attempt to escape the Jackson's Star mining settlement. Their journey leads them to a decommissioned space station orbiting their planetoid, where they encounter the deadly Xenomorphs. The plot ties into both previous Alien movies and Scott's prequels, "Prometheus" and "Covenant," as the scientists on Romulus extract black goo from the Xenomorph, leading to tragic and deadly consequences. The film is a standalone story while paying homage to its predecessors, emphasizing the recurring theme that humanity should not tamper with extraterrestrial substances.
