Supacell

"Supacell" is a British superhero television series created and written by Rapman for Netflix. Set in modern-day South London, the show follows five ordinary Black individuals who unexpectedly develop superpowers linked to a family history of sickle cell disease. As they grapple with their newfound abilities, they become targets of a secret organization intent on controlling them. The series stars Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo, and Eddie Marsan, and explores themes such as knife crime, racial profiling, poverty, and the exploitation of Black bodies. Premiering on June 27, 2024, "Supacell" received critical acclaim for its performances, direction, and for raising awareness of sickle cell disease. It was renewed for a second season in August 2024.
